Due to online stores such as Etsy, purchasing affordable art has become much easier. Regrettably, framing and matting can be pricier than the artwork itself. If you’re like me, you quickly get a heap of posters and no method to exhibit them. In a tour a week, Jenny Mitchell — classic maven and author of this blog Freckle Wonder — revealed a cute and incredibly simple approach to solve this dilemma.

Instead of breaking the bank buying a frame and mat, Mitchell gave this print an extra quirky touch by hanging it from a crochet skirt hanger.

While Mitchell has seen a few spins on this idea online, her biggest inspiration came from Rachel Denbow, who frequently uses old fashioned clipboards to exhibit photographs, artwork, and pieces of inspiration.

“I enjoy the ease and flexibility of working with a very simple skirt hanger to show a print,” says Mitchell. “When the mood strikes, I can exchange it out in seconds.” Mitchell has purchased scads of prints online, and this is a cheap and effortless method to exhibit them. That is, until she’s saved enough to make a significant trip to the framing store.
