Really like the brown and green combination but want to give the favorite combo an upgrade? Think celery and chocolate. While the combination would make for a fairly unappetizing bite, it’s a weathered colour pairing. Using these colours sparingly with lighter colours like white, cream and beige results at a soothing, comfortable and elegant look. Take note of these ratios between the light colours and the celery and chocolate accent colours in each of those rooms; it’s a big part of what makes them successful.

Case in point: The green ceiling provides the largest swath of color in the room, picking up on the duvet, bench and window treatments. The old tobacco basket on the wall provides just the ideal dose of brown.

I’d wager this beautiful area’s color palette might have been motivated by the beautiful print of an antique drawing of a turtle.

The color palette continues throughout this house, causing a sophisticated and inviting living area.

Just Perfect!

Chocolate and cream zebra-print chairs and a chocolate couch are improved by a few celery accents. The rest of the light room is bathed in natural light.

Tip: Do not forget that long stems and leaves may be a effective decorative accent in a space.

Celery and chocolate can help you create a calm and serene bathroom. Here the tiles reflect the light while the dark color grounds the cupboard.

This is what I like to phone a”Calgon, take me away!” bathroom. The dark cupboard (more like sour chocolate than cocoa ) and tall panels include just the ideal amount of color; they keep the space from looking like a blank canvas.

Tip: Always pay attention to proportions. These vertical panels are tall enough to stand up to the ceiling.

Just envision these shelves with plain white in the background. Painting them celery has breathed life into the space.

This room is a little bit of an exception for my light-to-accent-color ratio principle. Even the grasscloth wall covering is lively yet soothing. The cream-colored headboard and bedspread contribute a large enough swath of lotion to keep things balanced.
