If you’re frightened of a little color, you may want to observe the homes below through palms covering your eyes. I have discovered five of the houses on to discuss with you. Their feline homeowners and designers have spun the color wheel and picked out some of the most brazen hues available, even if they had to custom mix the paint to reach them. These are five homes we’ve toured before, so click around to the full tour if a home intrigues you.

Home into a household of seven in Frisco, Texas. This vibrant hacienda never fulfilled with a glowing hue it didn’t love.

There is very little whitewashing of those walls in this house; interior designer Ashley Astleford’s client and her family have no fear of large bright swaths of color and lively prints.

A couple’s permanent house on Vashon Island, in Washington state. Nicknamed “The Salsa House,” this house has one of the most exuberant exteriors I have ever seen.

A family house outside Copenhagen, Denmark. This cabin has a neutral foundation that homeowner Josina Bergsøe infused with bold color via artwork, fabrics and other accent pieces.

It’s possible to completely change an all-white bedroom’s color palette using something as straightforward as a plaid blanket and two accent pillows.

The splashes of bright shades aren’t contained within the homes’ walls; Bergsøe’s sharp eye for color extends outside to waves of purple and pink perennial blossoms.

Justina Blakeney

A bungalow for newlyweds in Los Angeles. Design consultant Justina Blakeney has her home, located in L.A.’s Echo Park area, “The Jungalow.” Inspired by the broad range of colors in the jungle, she attracted lots of them into her house with wild abandon.

A color wheel in the kitchen is a sure indication that there’ll be a lack of monochromatic schemes in this home.
